Sentul, W Java (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has issued an ultimatum to sack Agrarian and Spatial Planning Minister and National Land Agency Head Sofyan Djalil if he failed to achieve the land certification distribution target.

At the land certification event held in the Sentul Circuit Yard, Babakan Madang, on Tuesday, Jokowi reminded Djalil of his target again, failing which he would be removed from his post.

"I have ordered the minister to distribute seven million certificates to the people, but if he fails, then I would remove him from his position," he made the statement to which the public applauded.

Minister Djalil only smiled on hearing the president`s speech.

On the occasion, the president also highlighted the issue of land disputes that have become a scourge in the country.

President Jokowi, during his working visit to various regions, admitted to having often received complaints related to land disputes.

Land disputes arise when people do not have certificates.

"There are several land disputes in Bogor District, as the people do not have land certificates. It will be different if they have it, and no one can then argue," he added.

The president advised the people to safely keep the certificate and use it wisely if they needed to take a loan against it from the bank.

President Jokowi also held a dialog with three community representatives and a quiz, with a bicycle as the prize on winning it.

Some 15 thousand certificates have been handed out to the local people in four districts in Bogor.

Five million certificates were distributed to the people in the previous year, and the target is seven million in 2018, while nine million certificates will be handed out in 2019.
