Mamuju, W Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - A policeman was seriously injured and later died in a wall collapse while evacuating flood victims in Mamuju.

The policeman, Adjunct Inspector Nurman, was pronounced dead at Dr Wahidin Sudirohusodo, Makassar, South Sulawesi Province, on Saturday morning, after being treated in the hospital for two days, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Muhammad Rivai Arvan, head of the Mamuju police resort, stated here on Saturday.

Nurman was assisting in evacuating flood victims on Thursday when the accident occurred.

Flash floods hit two sub-districts in Mamuju District and submerged hundreds of homes. A total of 3,322 people were affected by the flooding.

The flood damaged 150 homes and a rice warehouse belonging to the Mamuju logistic office (Bulog), spoiling hundreds of tons of rice.
