Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State toll road operator PT Jasa Marga Tbk posted a net profit of Rp2.2 trillion last year, up 16.46 percent from Rp1.89 trillion a year earlier.

The rise in net profit was fueled by non-construction operating income totaling Rp8.92 trillion comprising Rp8.28 trillion from toll income and Rp640.40 billion from other operating income, PT Jasa Marga Tbk President Director Desi Arryani said after a general meeting of the company`s shareholders here on Tuesday.

The net profit hike was also contributed by the company`s effort to control its operating expenses as reflected by earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) margin which rose 2.24 percent to 61.43 percent in 2017 from 59.20 percent a year ago, she said.

In addition, it was also supported by the company`s effort to control interest burden, she added.

"Based on the outcome of the general meeting of the company`s shareholders this year, we have agreed to distribute dividends worth Rp440 billion or 20 percent of the profit among shareholders," she said.

The meeting also decided to appoint Adrian Priohutomo as development director replacing Hasanudin and Vincentius Sonny Loho as independent commissioner replacing Sigit Widyawan, she said.

She said the company`s assets totaled Rp79.19 trillion as of 2017, a 48.02 percent increase compared to Rp53.50 trillion the year before.

"This reflects the increasing construction activities of the company, along with its strategy to expedite the construction of toll roads to support economic growth and increase the company`s value in the long run," she said.

As of late 2017, PT Jasa Marga has operated 680 kilometers of toll roads, making up 62.2 percent of toll roads in the country.
