Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE), Rini Soemarno, has appointed Budi Waseso as the president-director of the state-owned logistics board, Bulog, in an effort to accelerate the government`s programmes and strengthen food security.

"This is a form of refreshment of the company`s management. The government continues to encourage Bulog to carry out its role in maintaining the basic unhusked rice purchase price, distributing rice assistance for the poor (Rastra), and managing food stocks," said Wahyu Kuncoro of the Agro Industry Business and Pharmacy of the SOE Ministry, in a statement on Friday.

Waseso, a retired general, will succeed Djarot Kusumayakti as Bulog chief.

The SOE Ministry also appointed Teten Masduki as chief of Bulog`s Supervisory Board, replacing Sudar Sastro Atmojo.
