Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo expected the online single submission system to start operating in May 2018.

"This year, we will open an online single submission. All permissions will be integrated. Hopefully, the system will be completed this month," he said, during the opening the 42nd Meeting and Exhibition of Indonesian Petroleum Association at the Jakarta Convention Center, South Jakarta, on Wednesday.

He stated that the regulation in Indonesia, especially at the ministerial level, is still less conducive and convoluted. The licensing in the oil and gas sector should be simplified.

"During this forum, all problems in licensing are directed to the minister or to me," he told the entrepreneurs of the oil and gas sector.

At the beginning of his speech, Widodo remarked that the oil and gas industry is the most famous and elite industry, whose entrepreneurs invest hundreds of trillions of rupiah each year.

In 2017, he ordered the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to cut many regulations in order to ease business in the sector.

"A total of 186 regulations, which have created a long-winded process of investing in this field, have been cut," he revealed.

He expected that the regulatory cuts will encourage the ease of business and investing in the sector, so that more people would invest in Indonesia.
