Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Imports of South Sumatra in March, 2018 shot up 325.4 percent in value to US$133.04 million in comparison with its imports in the previous month.

In the first three months of this year the imports of the province rose 157.01 percent to US$203.56 million from US$79.2 million in the same period in 2017, head of the Central Bureau of Statistic of South Sumatra Yos Rusdiansyah said here on Monday.

Yos said the import value in March included US$2.53 million in oil and gas imports and Rp130.4 million in imports of commodities other than oil and gas.

The rise in the import value in March in comparison with imports in February this year was attributable to 371.62 percent increase in the imports of commodities other than oil and gas. Imports of oil and gas dropped 27.27 percent from the previous months, he said.

In March, 2018, South Sumatra`s imports of commodities other than oil and gas were valued at US$130.4 million up from 371.62 percent in February in the same year.

A strong growth of 93.85 percent was recorded in the imports of machinery, mechanic devices.

Three main export destination from South Sumatra included the United States from which imports were valued at US$60.52 million, China from which imports were valued at US$50.32 million and Italy from which imports were valued at US$19.27 million.
