Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has ascertained the readiness of toll roads to serve post fasting Idul Fitri travelers this year.

"We want to ensure the use of toll roads for mudik (Lebaran travelers). We make sure the toll from Merak to Pasuruan can be used for going home, although there are several kilometers that are still in functional condition," Jokowi stated, while reviewing the Gempol-Pasuruan toll road in Pasuruan, East Java, on Saturday.

The president was wearing sarong, slippers, coat, and a cap while reviewing the 6.6-kilometer Gempol-Pasuruan, Rembang-Pasuruan toll roads. These segments, which are built by PT Hutama Karya-Gorip KSO, are targeted to be completed by May 20, 2018.

"We can already use tolls of this condition. We hope the next day`s traffic will be better," he added.

Next, Gempol-Probolinggo section 3 toll road is targeted to be completed by the end of 2018.

"Later, toll roads leading to Probolinggo will be connected at the end of the year. Hopefully, it will be in progress until finish. Land acquisition will start from June," said President.

He expressed hope that the toll roads from Merak to Banyuwangi could be used by the end of 2019.
