5.2-magnitude quake hits Banda Aceh

Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.2 on Richter scale shook the Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam provincial capital of Banda Aceh on Wednesday evening, according to the local station of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The epicenter of the quake which struck at 05.32 p.m. local time was located in the sea 294 kilometers southwest of the Banda Aceh waters at a depth of 10 kilometers, the station said.

There was no immediate report of material damage.

Local resident, Hamid said he did not feel the tremor. "I did not feel it as I was riding the motorcycle. If there was quake, local residents would rush outdoors," he said.
