"Of course, I am nervous about the results of the upcoming Asian Games," Nahrawi said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi has asked the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) to evaluate the Indonesian women team after they lost to host Thailand 2-3 in the Uber Cup quarterfinals on Thursday.

"Although they have struggled and shown their best performance, I ask BPSI to evaluate the Indonesian women team, particularly their performance related to the Asian Games 2018 and Indonesia Open 2018," he stated here on Thursday.

He also expressed hope that chief of PBSI`s achievement section, Susy Susanti, will prepare a second string of athletes for the Indonesian women team.

"Of course, I am nervous about the results of the upcoming Asian Games," he remarked.

The Indonesian women`s team failed to advance to the Uber Cup 2018 semifinals after losing to host Thailand 2-3 at Impact Arena in Bangkok on Thursday.

The two teams competed toughly until the last match in which Indonesia`s Ruselli Hartawan lost to Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand.

Despite receiving full support from home fans, Thailand had to try hard to face the Indonesian team`s resistance in each of the matches.

Hartawan, the world`s 77th ranked player, tried to balance her opponent, who is the world`s 22nd ranked player. But she lost to Ongbamrungphan 21-9, 21-12.

With the triumph, Thailand has advanced to the semifinals to play against China, which beat Denmark in the quarterfinals earlier in the day.

In the other Uber Cup match, Japan has moved to the semifinals after outclassing Taiwan 3-1. In the semifinals, Japan will face South Korea, which has crushed Canada 3-1.
