Ternate, N Maluku (ANTARA News) - The nine village heads on Taliabu Island, North Maluku Province, were named Indonesian Child Care Figures by the Indonesia Restu Bunda Foundation.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Regina Gunawan, said in the statement on Monday that the village heads won the awards because they were the figures who cared about the region, especially about the young generation and rural development.

"This activity is the result of cooperation with the Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises," she stated.

In addition to the nine village heads, awards were also given to 50 other figures, including Governors, Head of Districts, Vice-Regents, Mayors and politicians, academics, social activists, artists and media owners.

This achievement was a mandate and a responsibility for all heads of villages, the Head of Taliabu Island District, Aliong Mus, stated.

The village heads in a joint statement thanked Mus for giving them direction and the mandate and said they were determined to continue to accelerate the development of Talibu Island.

"Thank you for the support of the Head of District to the heads of villages by giving them opportunities to innovate and seek ties outside the region," said the Head of Maluli Village, La Safi . *** 4 ***
