Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned bank BNI is ready to meet the demand for cash that averages Rp13.7 trillion per week during Ramadhan and Eid-al-Fitr or Lebaran festivities.

BNI would also meet the peak demand from June 6 to 12 of about Rp19.9 trillion, said the BNI technology information and operation director, Dadang Setiabudi, in Jakarta on Monday.

Setiabudi said 67 per cent of the cash would be supplied by internal sources and the rest would be sourced from external agencies.

There were various factors for the rising demand for cash, including the increase in the number of BNI automated teller machines (ATMs) and outlets that had touched 18,104 across Indonesia. The cyclical rise in prices of goods during Ramadhan and the Eid and the hike in fuel oil rates had also contributed to increased demand for cash.
