Beijing, China, (ANTARA News) - The musical drama with the play "Calon Arang: The Story of Betrayal and Love" performed by Indonesian students has enthralled the people and foreign students in Hangzhou, China.

"The performances should also be held twice to meet the demands of the audience," Chairman of the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) of China in Hangzhou Fandy Putra Limanto stated here on Friday.

Folklore from Bali speaks about a wizard named Calon Arang, who loved her daughter, Ratna Manggali.

The wicked wizard seeks a husband for her daughter but her cruelty drives away several men.

"However, due to the high interest of the audience, we enact the drama again," he added.

The second show was also held in the capital city of Zhejiang Province known as the headquarters of Alibaba`s e-commerce company.

The 75-minute show was staged at Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics on June 2, 2018, and witnessed by Consul General of Indonesia for Shanghai Siti Nugraha Mauludiah.

"The total members of audience during the first and second performance reached around 550 people. We never expected this, as it is the first time for us to hold a musical drama," William Hans, the former chairman of PPI of Hangzhou, stated.
