"The Lebaran holidays are a peak season, especially to Labuan Bajo, which has the Komodo National Park destination,"
Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (Asita) Chairman Abed Frans pointed to the high demand for tour packages to the province in the run-up to the Eid al-Fitr 2018 holidays.

"The Lebaran holidays are a peak season, especially to Labuan Bajo, which has the Komodo National Park destination," he noted here on Sunday.

Frans explained that it had yet to calculate the total number of requests for tour packages from various operators covered by ASITA, but he believes the demand has increased drastically.

Owner of the company that serves the Flobamor Tour travel had noted that the demand for tour packages from June to July 2018 has reached eight groups.

"Other operators, with an overseas market for foreign tourists, are also busy in serving tour requests that have trickled in," he added.

Furthermore, Frans revealed that most requests for travel packages to tourist destinations he received were to the Flores, Sumba, and Alor Islands.

He stated that the local operators were encountering various difficulties in handling the surge in requests for tour packages during this peak season, including providing adequate ships for tourists, especially to cater to the demand for tours to Labuan Bajo, Komodo Island.

"Currently, the shortage of this vessel is a problem, as all of them are in operation. Moreover, an agency was compelled to decline a tour request, as there was no boat to rent," he stated.
