Jakarta, June 11 (ANTARA News) - The state-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia?s (KAI) latest service product of sleeper train is ready to be operational from Tuesday (June 12).

President Director of PT KAI, Edi Sukmoro, said in Jakarta on Monday that the luxury sleeper train, ordered by KAI from the state-owned train manufacturer of PT Industri Kereta Api (Inka), has been tested and handed over to PT KAI on June 8, 2018.

"The luxury sleeper train will begin its first operation to serve rail service users on June 12, 2018, in the Argo Anggrek Train for a round trip from Gambir station to Surabaya Pasarturi station," he stated.

The sleeper train, coupled with the Argo Bromo Anggrek Train, has four trips; two trips from Gambir station at 09:30 a.m. local time and 09:30 p.m. local time, and two trips from Surabaya Pasarturi station at 08:00 a.m. local time and 08:00 p.m. local time.

The ticket price for the latest exclusive service was Rp900 thousand. This rate was a promo price that will be valid for a month. Starting on Monday (June 11), people could make ticket reservations through various train ticket booking channels.

Exclusive services, similar to business class in the plane, could be enjoyed by the users of sleeper train service during their trips.

The services, including seats that can reclined 170 degrees, electric footrests, private entertainment in the form of 12-inch TV with headset, USB charging power source, foldable food tray, pillow and blanket, trash can, glass, cup holder, compartment to store footwear, magazines, and coat hanger, are available exclusively for every passenger per seat.

A sleeper train will serve only 18 passengers, and so it is more comfortable. In addition, the consumers will also get a meal service, drink, and snack for free.

"This is one form of innovation from PT KAI to improve its services to the public. With this luxury-class service, people have more choices of travel based on tariff and kinds of services," he pointed out.
