Singapore, (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government was optimistic that a meeting between United States President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore would bring fresh air to world peace.

"We must be optimistic that the meeting between the two state heads has been prepared well to produce something (agreement)," Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore I Gede Ngurah Swajaya said on Tuesday.

Indonesia believes that any problem can be solved through dialogue, negotiation, and peace, which have also become a principle that is upheld by ASEAN.

"Hopefully, there will be concrete results," he explained.

He expressed hope that the expected results would include denuclearization in the Korean Peninsula for the sake of peace.

Indonesia is actively seeking to find joint solutions. Moreover, Indonesia is now selected as a Non-Permanent Member of United Nations Security Council.

Meanwhile, Trump and Kim, accompanied by an interpreter, held a closed-door meeting at a Capella Hotel in Singapore on Tuesday.
