Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Head of the Public Relation Division of the Indonesian Police Brigadier General Mohammad Iqbal has appealed to the public to report police personnel, who are unfair and not neutral, during Indonesia`s regional head elections.

"The public can report unfair police officers during the regional head elections to the Police Propam Division," Iqbal emphasized here on Tuesday.

Iqbal noted that Indonesians can send a report via email to divpropam99@gmail.com or contact 021-7218615.

Iqbal said all Police personnel should maintain a neutral stance during the democratic event.

The police cannot support or take sides with any candidate during the elections.

"The command from the Head of Police General Tito Karnavian is very clear. Police personnel should remain neutral during duty in the regional head election process," Iqbal added.

He said police personnel, who support a particular candidate in the election, can be imposed a sanction, face task rolling, and termination.

The regional elections will be held on June 27, 2018, in 171 regions in Indonesia, including 17 provinces, 39 cities, and 115 districts.

Last Monday, President Joko Widodo had also called on personnel of the Indonesian National Military (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) to maintain absolute neutrality during the regional head elections.

Widodo urged the Polri chief, TNI commander, and BIN head to always maintain neutrality during the elections.

The president also appealed to the entire Indonesian society to jointly oversee the order of the implementation of general and regional head elections.
