Simalungun, N Sumatra, (ANTARA News) - The government has issued a list and announced the total number of 188 passengers of sunken Sinar Bangun Motor Vessel.

"The total number of passengers who were on board the vessel was 188 persons," Simalungun District Head JR Saragih, said here on Sunday.

Saragih published the data along with the Search and Rescue Agency, the National Transportation Safety Commission and the insurance company, PT Jasa Raharja.

The data were acquired from the report of the victims families.

The MV Sinar Bangun sank in Lake Toba of North Sumatra Province on Monday (June 18), at 5:30 p.m. local time.

There are 18 passengers who survived the accident. Meanwhile, three persons were found dead and 164 are still missing.

The survivors were treated in a local hospital and public health centers.

The families of the victims have received accident compensations.

The Search and Rescue Agency is utilizing a sonar scanning device to search for victims of Sinar Bangun Motor Vessel (MV).

The sonar scanning can be used to search for an object in a depth of 2,000 meters.

Besides, they also operated another sonar equipment that can search in the depth of 600 meters.

The team has found several bodies and objects in the depth 450 meters.

They also utilized trawl to net the objects.
