Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Trade Mission to Morocco, under the Trade Ministry Program, which showed off domestic flagship products, has managed to reach potential deals of US$10.96 million or Rp153.5 billion.

Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Arlinda, said that the Indonesian Trade Mission to Morocco, which was led by Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita, brought 35 business players from 18 companies engaged in various sectors.

"The transaction is obtained through one-on-one business matching," Arlinda noted in a written statement received by Antara here on Monday.

The transaction will continue to grow in line with the number of trade agreements, which are still in the process of negotiation. The transaction records do not include the potential transactions of PT Pindad (the Indonesian state-owned enterprise specializing in military and commercial products) with Anoa and Komodo panzers, as well as ammunitions.

Previously, the Indonesian Trade Mission to Tunisia had recorded a potential transaction of $2.74 million, or approximately Rp37,80 billion. Thus, the total potential transactions recorded on the Trade Mission to Tunisia and Morocco is $13.70 million, or approximately Rp191.30 billion.

Similar to Tunisia, Morocco can be a hub for Indonesian trade to Africa and Europe. Indonesia, on the other hand, can also be used by partner countries to become a hub for Moroccan trade to ASEAN countries.

Indonesia`s total trade value with Africa in 2017 reached $8.85 billion. Of that amount, Indonesia`s non-oil and gas exports to Africa amounted to $4.86 billion, or increased compared to that in 2016, which was $4.17 billion.

Meanwhile, Indonesia`s non-oil and gas imports from Africa amounted to $1.36 billion, or increased compared to that in 2016, which was $925 million.

Indonesia`s main export products to Africa are palm oil, paper, machinery, motor vehicles, rubber, and food and beverages. Meanwhile, Indonesia`s imports from Africa are oil and gas, cotton, pulp, and iron and steel.
