Jakarta, July 12 (ANTARA News) - The Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan said he was grateful that the explosion at the Grand Wijaya II shop house complex in South Jakarta on Thursday morning did not cause casualties.

"This happened in the morning when there was no office activity, so we are grateful there is no casualty," he stated after reviewing the location of the explosion on Thursday morning.

Baswedan revealed that if the explosion occurred during the day when people in activity, then there could be casualties.

Meanwhile, South Jakarta Metro Police Chief of Police Commissioner Indra Jafar said the explosion at the Grand Wijaya II shop house was due to a leak of 12 kilograms gas canisters.

He confirmed that the explosion of the leaking gas tube had no casualties.

Head of South Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Adjunct Senior Commissioner of Police, Stefanus Tamuntuan, explained that the explosion of leaked gas cylinders came from the legal consultant`s office.

Tamuntuan continued, the explosion of leaking gas cylinders came from the kitchen room of an empty legal consultant`s office.

Bomb squad members had combed no explosives at the scene.

The explosion occurred in the area of Grand Wijaya II Shop House of Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Thursday (July 12) at around 04:30 a.m. local time.
