Bogor, W Java (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) chaired a plenary cabinet meeting at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Wednesday to discuss the draft 2019 state budget and asked the cabinet to prepare strategies to face global economic uncertainties.

"I believe that our economy still has better endurance compared to other countries, and the key to addressing the global economic uncertainties is to create a proper, well-orchestrated synergy between monetary and fiscal policies to make it harmonious," he stated.

Jokowi noted that the global economic uncertainties were triggered by the US move to normalize the monetary policy and the imminent US-China trade war.

The government should prepare steps to strengthen the economy by, among others, providing incentives to attract more investment, boosting exports, and strengthening the tourism sector to produce foreign exchange earnings, he noted.

Jokowi further asked the ministries and non-ministerial government institutions to complete the programs that have been planned in 2018.

"Make sure that the strategic projects will soon be executed as scheduled by maintaining good governance and meeting the target, so that the impact of the projects could be directly felt by the people," he remarked.

This is useful to strengthen the competitive edge of Indonesian products, encourage investment, and boost exports, he revealed.

He further stressed the importance of improving the quality of human resources to encourage productivity.
