Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina of West Kalimantan region lauded the public for participating in supervising the distribution of subsidized fuel oil at gas stations to buyers to prevent reselling.

"We praise Sambas District`s residents, who help us in supervising the distribution of subsidized fuel, so that it will not be resold by unscrupulous buyers," Sales Executive Retail of PT Pertamina for West Kalimantan region Arwin Nugraha Agustri stated on Saturday.

Subsidized fuel oil of premium type is directly distributed to consumers, so it cannot be sold to people, who sell it back to the community, he noted.

"With the findings, we will follow up by calling the managers of gas stations to seek information on whether the people buy subsidized fuel for re-sale or just for personal use," he remarked.

Sanctions will be imposed on managers of gas stations if the results indicate that the buyers are using jerry cans at gas stations and reselling the fuel to the public, he pointed out.

"The sanctions can range from a warning to the termination of fuel oil distribution contract for two weeks to a month and also to the revocation of permits if done repeatedly," he stated.

According to the rule, it is clearly explained that the sales of subsidized fuel should not be to people, who will sell it back for making profit.

"However, if there are people who buy fuel, for instance, using jerry cans to stock it for a month, as their location of settlement is far from the nearest gas station, it is still allowed," Agustri explained.

Furthermore, Agustri noted that his side is also conducting an internal monitoring of the distribution of subsidized fuel oil and is also receiving reports from the public. If they really notice any misappropriation or the reports point to any misdoings, they can directly call Pertamina on phone number: 1-500-0000.

"In addition, we conduct monitoring via social media, through which a complaint can be registered with us. In 2018, we had also taken firm action against the gas station managers found to have distributed subsidized fuel oil, which is not in line with the appropriate provision. However, the amount was not too high," he added.
