Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - A check-in counter attendant of the Soekarno Hatta International Airport`s Terminal 3 in Tangerang, Banten Province, got injured on Sunday morning after the trigger of a policeman`s handgun was unintentionally pulled to cause fire, the airport`s spokesman said.

The loud sound of the gunfire made several passengers inside the terminal get startled while the victim, identified as Ikhwanul Hakim Siregar, was taken to the airport`s health center for receiving a medical treatment, the airport`s spokesman Febri Toga Simatupang said in a statement here on Sunday.

The accident happened when Second Brig.Galuh Apriyana was helping his colleague, First Brig Fajar Firmansyah, unload his gun`s bullet magazine when having a check-in service prior to their flight with Garuda Indonesia`s GA 140 for Banda Aceh, Aceh Province`s capital city, on Sunday morning, he said.

Without knowing that a bullet remained left inside the magazine, the gun`s trigger was pulled. The stray bullet hit the floor before striking Siregar`s leg, Simatupang said adding that the victim and the police officers agreed to resolve the case through an out-of-court settlement.
