Jakarta (ANTARA News)- Indonesia is holding the Eighth International Shipbuilding, Offshore, Marine Equipment, Machinery and Services Exhibition (Inmarine) at the Jakarta International Expo area, here, July 25-27, 2018.

The expo is aimed at helping boost the growth of the maritime industry in Indonesia that aspires to become a global marine axis, according to a statement from the maritime affairs and fisheries ministry.

As Indonesia has planned to build 100 seaports to support its sea toll program, the expo is also highlighted by a "Port and Terminal 2018" event.

Earlier, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti had stated that Indonesia`s leadership in the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) along with Australia and Monaco is part of the Indonesian global maritime diplomacy.

"This is part of Indonesia`s diplomacy in the maritime field and in accordance with Mr President (Jokowi`s) Nawacita (Nine Priorities) program to demonstrate Indonesia`s leadership in the maritime sector. We could utilize several opportunities in ICRI for our country`s interests," the minister noted in a statement on July 3.

The ICRI is an informal partnership between nations and organizations that strives to preserve coral reefs and related ecosystems around the world.
