Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Sports Affairs Minister, Imam Nahrawi, urged the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to be fair with Indonesia and Malaysia regarding the attitude of Indonesian supporters who allegedly insulted the Malaysian Under-16 (U-16) national team.

"When we came to the SEA Games 2017 match in Kuala Lumpur, we also heard Indonesians being insulted. But we did not step back and kept going forward," Imam said, on the sidelines of a visit to the training camp of the national basket team, here on Thursday.

The minister also asked AFF and AFC to investigate all cases involving the supporters of Indonesia and Malaysia in international matches.

"It happened that the Malaysian U-16 players had put the Red-White flag in an upturned position. Therefore, they should act fairly if anyone questions them on an upload related to the AFF U-16 match on the Malaysian Sports Minister`s Instagram account," Nahrawi remarked when asked about his Instagram account on the AFF U-16 match in Sidoardjo, East Java.

The minister claimed to have never uploaded a provocative message or video on his social media account.

"On the other hand, I have uploaded matters on reconciliation as we are neighboring countries and brothers. Prime Minister Mahathir has visited the country and the Malaysian sports minister has also been invited to the country," Nahrawi disclosed.

Previously, the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) urged all members of the Indonesian national team supporters to stop any hostile attitudes toward other countries.

In the meantime, the PSSI Secretary General Ratu Tisha Destria responded to the case of alleged humiliation of Malaysia`s U-16 national team by Indonesian fans during the AFF U-16 Cup 2018 in East Java.

The alleged case of contempt had prompted the Malaysia`s Football Association (FAM) to lodge a protest with the AFF and AFC.

The case of alleged humiliation involving Indonesian soccer supporters surfaced when one of Malaysia U-16 national team players, with AAH initial, uploaded it on his social media personality.

The upload showed the Red and White Flag in an upturned position when he and his team were about to fly to Indonesia for the AFF U-16 Cup.

The action led to an issue after internet users in Indonesia alleged the incident to be a case of humiliation.
