Cikarang, West Java (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of Bekasi District in West Java claims to have prepared bonuses for athletes, who win medals in the 2018 Asian Games held from August 18 to September 2, 2018.

"We are preparing bonuses in the form of money for our hardworking athletes, who will deliver achievements in the Asian Games," KONI Bekasi Chairman Romli remarked here on Friday.

According to Romli, at least nine athletes comprising two weightlifting athletes, four equestrian athletes, one Wushu athlete, and two Karate athletes from Bekasi District were invited to attend the Asian Games National Training (Pelatnas) in Jakarta.

"These athletes have repeatedly won gold medals in both the Regional Sports Week and National Sports Week," Romli stated.

However, he was reluctant to divulge details on the promised bonus value to those athletes, who will compete in the Asian Games, and urged the athletes to focus on training to achieve maximum results while competing later.

"We urge them to focus on defending the country in the sports championships," he noted.

Romli remarked that the athletes from Bekasi District being called to Pelatnas for the Asian Games was a matter of pride as well as the success of the coaching athletes at the regional level.

"There are many athletes, with potential, in Bekasi, and we will continue to develop them," he stated.

Furthermore, he stated that during the West Java National Sports Week in 2016, athletes from Bekasi District had bagged 53 gold medals for the West Java contingent.

"As a result, the host emerged as the overall champion, with a total of 217 medals," he added.
