Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 2018 Bazaar Indonesia event, which has been held by the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney, Australia, has promoted bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Australia, which is now in the process of being elevated from a strategic partnership to a comprehensive partnership.

"Indonesia and Australia are currently in the process of enhancing relationship from Strategic Partners to Comprehensive Partners," the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Sydney, Heru Subolo, said in a statement via a short message service received by Antara here on Monday.

Subolo expressed his gratitude to the Consulate General in Sydney and all Indonesian community in Sydney and surrounding areas for the implementation of the 2018 Indonesian Bazaar in commemorating the 73rd Indonesian Independence Day, which falls on Aug 17.

"As Indonesians living in Sydney, we should be able to contribute to this comprehensive partnership in accordance with our respective capacity by becoming an exemplary community member and contributing to multicultural development in Australia," the consul stated.

In addition to promoting bilateral relations between Indonesia and Australia, the 2018 Bazaar Indonesia also introduced Indonesian culinary, arts and culture, as well as traditional games.

A number of games and friendly matches, which are common to welcome the commemoration of the Independence Day, such as cracker eating contest, chess, and dominoes were also held for visitors. There was also a free health checkup.

The 2018 Bazaar Indonesia was held in cooperation between the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney and the Indonesian Community Council (ICC) of NSW (New South Wales), and was supported by the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Sydney, the Indonesian Investment Promotion Center (IIPC), the Indonesian Student Association in NSW, the Indonesian Christian Nurses Association in Australia (ICNAA), and the Indonesian Muslim Nurses Association in Australia (IMNAA).

In addition to the 2018 Bazaar Indonesia, the Indonesian Consulate General, in cooperation with the Indonesian Diaspora Network (IDN) NSW and the Indonesian community as well as several other parties, also held a fun walk to commemorate the 73rd Indonesian Independence Day.
