Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Finance Ministry said tax revenues in the first seven months of this year reached Rp687.17 trillion or 48.26 percent of the target of Rp1,424 trillion in 2018.

"In the period of January-July, 2018, the tax revenues grew 14.36 percent year-on-year, better than the growth of 13.99 percent yoy in the first half of 2018," Taxation Director General Robert Pakpahan said here on Tuesday.

Tax revenues from activities in import and production were the main contributors to the increase in the tax revenues, Robert said.

Revenues in income taxes from the non-oil/gas sector grew 14.4 percent, oil and gas income tax rose 14.21 percent and value added tax and luxurious sales taxes rose 14.26 percent and land and building tax and other taxes increased 14.48 percent, he said.

The last regional leader elections also contributed to increase in value added tax , he said.

The largest contributors among sectors was the manufacturing industry accounting for Rp194.36 trillion or 29.9 percent and trade sector accounting for Rp131.7 trillion or 20.3 percent.

"We are quite encouraged by the figures. Hopefully, the performance would be better next month that we could come closer to the target set in the state budget," Robert said.
