Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia lost 4-15 to Japan in the women`s water polo of the Asian Games 2018 at the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatic Stadium in Jakarta on Thursday.

Japan scored their first goal, through Chiaki Sakanoue, in the first minute of the first quarter.

Indonesian goalkeeper Ayudya Suidarwanti Pratiwi had to make an all-out effort to counter the attack of the Japanese team, one of the top seeds in the women`s water polo of the Asian Games 2018.

Japan scored four other goals, through Misako Noro, Yumi Arima, Kotori, and Chiaki Sakanoue, in the first quarter.

Indonesia`s two goals were made by Sarah Manzilina and Nyoman Ayu Safitri Arsana.

With the goals, the Indonesian team tried to find their game pattern in the second quarter. However, Japan often caused troubles to the Indonesian center-backs and managed to net two goals, through Yuki Nizawa and Suzuki Kotori.

Japan led the second quarter with 7-3.

In the third quarter, Japan scored three more goals after stepping up their strength and speed, which added to the difficulties for Indonesia.

With seven goals behind Japan in the fourth quarter, Indonesia tried to break Japan`s defense. But the Japanese team`s defense was too strong for the Indonesian team to break.

Japan scored five more goals in the fourth quarter, while Indonesia only netted one goal through Upiet Saripana.
