Jakarta- (ANTARA News) - Indonesia beat Hong Kong 9-8 at the women`s water polo event of the Asian Games 2018 at the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatic Stadium in Jakarta on Friday.

Both teams competed tightly in the first quarter to break each other`s defense.

Indonesian defender Glindra Patricia Legawa broke the rival`s defense and scored one goal two minutes before the first quarter ended.

However, Hong Kong retaliated with one goal through defender Sze Ting Chan and two goals through center forward Lee Sze Mak at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Sze Ting Chan scored two more goals for Hong Kong, while Indonesia scored only one goal through Nyoman Ayu Savitri Arsana.

Trailing by two goals in the third quarter, Indonesia tried to catch up with Hong Kong.

Indonesia`s Ayudya Suidarwanty Pratiwi worked hard to hold Hong Kong`s attack led by striker Lee Sze Mak.

Both teams only scored one goal each in the third quarter. Hong Kong led the match with 6-3 until the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was the last chance for the Indonesian team to at lease equalize. Siti Balkis and Ariel Dyah of Indonesia scored two goals shortly after the fourth quarter started, upsetting the Hong Kong team.

Receiving support from home fans, Indonesia appeared to increase their attack on Hong Kong`s defense. Indonesia scored two more goals through Glindra Patricia and Ariel Dyah, while Hong Kong also netted two goals through Chan and Mak.

In the last minutes of the fourth quarter, Indonesia, which trailed by one point, made all-out efforts to catch up with Hong Kong.

Indonesia equalized 8-8, two minutes before the match ended after Nyoman Ayu Safitri scored one goal for the host team.

The host team overtook Hong Kong with 9-8 after Ariel Dyah scored another goal in the last minute.
