Bekasi, West Java (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s victory over Laos in the advanced match of Group A of the men`s soccer of the 2018 Asian Games on Friday was a gift for the 73rd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, according to Indonesian U-23 national team coach Luis Milla.

"The victory became a gift of Indonesian Independence, as well as an encouragement to continue to fight to qualify for the last 16 rounds," Milla remarked after the match against Laos U-23 national team at the Patriot Chandrabaga Stadium, Bekasi, West Java, Friday night.

The coach of Spanish origin was pleased to be able to give victory because he realized that Independence Day was an important moment for the Indonesian people.

That is why he expressed hope that the people of Indonesia will also enjoy a victory that has won his team a total of six points in Group A.

"Hopefully the spectators can enjoy the match. Thank you for the support, especially for the spectators who have come directly to support the team," Milla remarked.

Indonesia`s U-23 national team managed to conquer Laos U-23 national team with a score of 3-0 in an advanced match in Group A of the men`s soccer for the 18th Asian Games at the Patriot Chandrabaga Stadium in Bekasi.

Indonesia`s goals in the match were scored by Alberto Goncalves (14th and 47th minutes) and Ricky Fajrin in the 75th minute.

The victory makes Indonesia ranked third in Group A standings with six points from three matches and opens up opportunities to qualify for the round of 16.

In the standings, just above Indonesia there are Hong Kong who have seven points from three matches, while the top of the standings are held by the Palestinian U-23 national team who collect eight points from four matches and are guaranteed to qualify for the eighth final round.

Laos itself was eliminated from the 2018 Asian Games because it always lost in three matches.
