Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Indonesian is fielding a 24-strong squad to take part in all fencing events at the Asian Games 2018.

"The Indonesian team has 24 athletes in the fencing. All the athletes are the result of the selection process held at the national training center ahead of the quadrennial sporting event," Indonesian fencing coach Andi Sukmawan said at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Sunday.

Fencing at the 2018 Asian Games will be held at JCC from August 19 to 24.

The 24 Indonesian fencing athletes will compete in all events including men`s and women`s team epee, individual foil, team foil, individual sabre and team sabre competitions.

"We will field four athletes to each of the men`s and women`s foil, sabre and epee competitions," he said.

He expressed hope that the Indonesian fencing team will be able to take home medals from the 2018 Asian Games.

"Our athletes have made several preparations ahead of the Asian Games this time. The athletes who will compete in the event have been tightly selected at the national training center," he said.

Fencing is a group of three related combat sports. The three disciplines in modern fencing are the foil, the ?p?e, and the sabre; winning points are made through the contact with an opponent.
