Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Chinese Taipei grabbed a first gold medal in the Asian Games 2018`s shooting event of the air rifle men`s mixed group category in the Jakabaring Sports City, here on Sunday.

The Chinese Teipei which fielded its athlete team reinforced by Yingshin Lin and Shaochuan Lu, recorded a score of 494.1 points.

China grabbed the silver medal through its shooters Ruozhu Zhao and Haoran Yang who recorded a score of 492.5 points.

Competition went tough for the gold and silver medals as the athletes of the two sides are chasing each other.

The final result can finally be decided after the Chinese Taipei and Chinese athletes fired 24 shots.

Bronze medals were won by India after its shooters, Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar, recorded a total of 429.9 points.

South Korea is ranked fourth with a total of 389.4 points, while Mongolia needs to settle for fifth with 346.6 points.

Chinese Taipei`s victory is quite surprising because in the qualifying round it was ranked fifth.

South Korean athletes who qualified in the first rank, can not maintain their best performances. South Korean shooters, Jung Eunhea and Kim Hyeonjun, got a total score of 836.7 points in the qualifying. *** 4 ***
