Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian swimmer Nurul Fajar Fitriyati succeeded to qualify for the final in the Asian Games 2018`s 200 meter women`s backstroke swimming event at Bung Glora Bung Karno`s Aquatic Studium here on Sunday.

In the qualifiying round, Nurul clocked two minutes and 18.64 seconds. She was ranked seventh after Hong Kong`s swimmer Toto Kwan To Wong.

Meanwhile, the first stage of the knockout stage was reached by Yaxin Liu of China with a time of two minutes of 09.52 seconds.

In addition to Nurul, Indonesian representative in women`s 200-m backstroke category is Yessy Venisia Yosaputra who failed to qualify for the final.

The maximum effort is also shown by four Indonesian swimmers competing in the women`s 4x100-m freestyle event

Adinda Larasati Dewi, Ressa Kania Dewi, Sagita Putri Krisdewayanti, and Patricia Yosita Hapsari managed to reach the final with a record time of three minutes 52.49 seconds.

The Indonesian women`s team was ranked seventh, far enough from the Chinese women`s team which recorded three minutes of 40.32 seconds in the first round.
New achievements were made by Vanessa Evato who set a national record in the women`s 100-meter breaststroke category with one minute 09.78 seconds.

Despite exceeding her previous record of one minute 09.89 seconds in the 48th Singapore National Age Group (SNAG) 2017, Vanessa has yet to qualify for the 2018 Asian Games final.

The Indonesian swimmer, Azzahra Permatahani, also failed to advance to the final round in the women`s 100-meter breaststroke category. *** 4 ***
