Subang, W Java (ANTARA News) - Chinese cyclists dominated the women`s cross country cycling event, with Bianwa Yao and Hongfeng Li winning a gold medal and a silver medal, respectively, on Tuesday.

Yao finished the race the fastest, in one hour, 20 minutes and 17 seconds, followed by Li.

The third place was won by Natalie Panyawan from Thailand.

"This trek was relatively easier than other treks I have experienced," Yao said after the competition.

The Chinese cyclists had been ready for the race in Subang, West Java, from the last three days, so they had much time to train.

Coach Baosheng Cheb said the women cyclists have set a target of qualifying to participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.

Two Indonesian cyclists taking part in the event - Rohidah and Noviana - failed to win medals.

Rohidah was ranked seventh, finishing in one hour, 36 minutes and 40 seconds. "The opponents were strong and this is the first time I`m participating in the cross country event," she said.
