Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian wushu athlete Ahmad Hulaefi bagged a bronze medal in the men`s wushu Daoshu-Gunshu and presented it to the nation.

"I present this medal to my country, Indonesia," he said at the Jakarta JIExpo Kemayoran on Monday.

He also thanked the people of the country for their support to the Indonesian wushu team.

He believed that the Indonesian wushu team had given their best performance at the 2018 Asian Games, which was boosted by the support of the people.

Hulaefi was confident of his own performance in the Gunshu number, in which he performed stances with a stick.

"In the Gaoshu number, I was performing with a machete, and I was able to perform with balance and poise, and I am satisfied," he said.

Before competing in the Gunshu number, he suffered an injury to his hip during the warm up, but was fortunately able to overcome it, he continued.

The support from the spectators in the JIExpo arena gave him the spirit to perform well in the competition and because of that, he was able to overlook his injury and not let it get in the way of giving his best performance.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), my hip condition did not bother me during my performance; my adrenaline was boosted by the support and cheers from the spectators at the JIExpo and I did not feel the pain," he added.

Hulaefi won the bronze medal in the Daoshu-Gunshu number with a total score of 19.41.

In the Gunshu number, which took place on Tuesday, he got 9.71 points, improving his score in the Daoshu number, which was 9.70.
