Bogor, W Java, (ANTARA News) - An Afghan paraglider, Lida Hozoori, was seriously injured after she fell from a height of 15 meters due to failure to control her parachute.

"She immediately got medical help and was evacuated to Gatot Subroto Army Hospital aboard a helicopter," Competition Manager Wahyu Yudha Dewanto said here on Wednesday.

The dynamic wind conditions, which could suddenly change from strong wind to little or no wind, in Puncak resort area in the West Java`s city of Bogor, where the event was held, has forced all athletes to be cautious during the event.

Hozoori crashed to the ground after she failed to control her parachute due to wind conditions.

The 24-year-old athlete reportedly suffered a broken neck and back injury.

Previously, a Mongolian athlete Chuluunbat Tumenbayr was blown off course and landed in the parking lot near the venue. However, she did not suffer any injury.

Indonesian paragliding chief coach, Gendon Subandon, remarked that he has warned all athletes to be alert and focus as the wind conditions in Puncak area remained unpredictable.

"The condition is different when we have the training here, but our athletes could control it and could grab one gold medal in men`s accuracy team and one silver medal in women`s accuracy team," he pointed out.
