Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Iranian athlete Mohammadali Geraei presented the fourth gold medal for his country at the 2018 Asian Games wrestling event after defeating Kyrgyz wrestler Akzhol Makhmudov late Wednesday.

During the final match, which took place at the Assembly Hall of the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Geraei excelled 7-3 in the technical points and 3-1 in the classification points.

He equaled the achievements of his three colleagues, who have become the best in the sport, namely Hassan Yazdanicharati in the freestyle 86 kilogram class, Alireza Kariminachiani in the male 97 kilogram class, and Parviz Hadibasmanj in the 125 kilogram class.

Two initial gold medals were gained on the first day of implementation, on Sunday (Aug 19), while another gold medal was obtained the following day, on Monday (Aug 20).

At the beginning of the match, Gereai appeared to be aggressive and tried to slam several times, but got fierce resistance from Makhmudov.

In the first three minutes, the Iranian wrestler took a 7-2 lead on technical points, but in the second three minutes, it was the turn of the Kyrgyz wrestler who tried to make moves to slam the opponent, even though he failed to catch the points until the time was up.

Thus, having this result, Gereai was entitled to bring home a gold medal, while Kyrgyzstan only won a silver.

Meanwhile, in the race for two bronze medals, South Korean wrestler Kim Hyeonwoo won a bronze medal after defeating Uzbek wrestler Bilan Nalgiev and Chinese wrestler Yang Bin won a bronze after defeating Japanese wrestler Shohei Yabiku.
