Jakarta (ANTARA News) - South Korea emerged as the overall champion of the taekwondo games held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) from August 19 to 23 as part of the Asian Games 2018.

South Korea took home five gold, five silver and two bronze medals in the event.

Iran finished second with two gold, three silver and one bronze medals, while Thailand ranked third with two gold and two bronze medals.

Thailand improved its rank to the third place after snatching a gold medal on the last day of the taekwondo competition.

Hosts Indonesia stood in the eighth place with one gold medal through Defia Rosmaniar in the women`s Poomsae category.
