Palembang, South Sumatra, (ANTARA News) - The national rowing team of Indonesia finally succeeded in winning the first gold medal at the Asian Games XVIII held at the Jakabaring Sports City in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Friday.

Indonesia won the gold medal in rowing in the Lightweight Men`s Eight (LM8+), clocking a time of 6.08.88 minutes, defeating Uzbekistan and Hong Kong China.

The rowing team of Uzbekistan was content with finishing in second place to win a silver medal, with a record time of 6.12.40 minutes.

The Hong Kong Chinese men`s rowing team won a bronze medal in LM8+, with a time of 6.14.46 minutes.
