Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Smesco Indonesia, an official store of the 2018 Asian Games, has provided translators to help foreign athletes and officials keen to shop in the shopping tourism destination.

Two translators worked alternately everyday to help athletes and officials of the 2018 Asian Games to shop in the Smesco Building, Emilia Suhaimi, president director of the Institute of Marketing Services for Cooperatives and SMEs, the operator of Smesco Indonesia, noted in a statement here, Friday.

Trisni Hana, 22, one of the translators, explained that she not only translated what the shoppers said but also helped to serve them while shopping at the stands of small- and medium-scale enterprises offering Indonesian products.

Several athletes and officials from Asian countries had visited the Smesco Building during the 18th Asian Games being held from August 18 to September 2, 2018.

On Thursday (Aug 23), among the foreign athletes, who had shopped in Smesco, were 26 athletes and officials from Myanmar, five from Mongolia, two from Thailand, three from India, and four from Syria.

Over 17 thousand athletes and officials from 45 Asian countries are participating in the 18th Asian Games.
