Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Golkar Party politician Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita will replace Idrus Marham as social service minister, according to the party`s senior member.

"It has been confirmed," Golkar Party politician Bambang Soesatyo, who is also chairman of the House of Representatives, stated here on Friday.

Soesatyo said he had received the confirmation after contacting Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto.

"May there be no change," he remarked.

Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita is the son of Golkar senior politician Ginandjar Kartasasmita. The party had discharged Agus when Aburizal Bakrie was at the helm of the party for supporting Joko Widodo in the 2014 presidential race.

Social Service Minister Marham submitted his letter of resignation to President Widodo here on Friday.

"Today at 10:30 a.m. local time, I met the president. I did it after I received a notification on my investigation yesterday," Marham noted at the Presidential Palace compounds here.

Based on the notification, Marham stated that he had to meet the president to submit the letter of resignation.

Marham said the resignation is a form of responsibility.

Marham said he had decided to resign based on several considerations, including protecting the honor of the president known as a leader, with good reputation and high commitment to eradicating corruption in the country.
