Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Indonesia men`s and women`s rowing teams stepped into the 200 meter traditional boat race finals at the Asian Games 2018, after competing at the rowing venue in Jakabaring Sports City in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Saturday morning.

The Indonesia women`s rowing team will take on Chinese Taipei, Korea, China, Thailand and Myanmar in the finals, starting at 02.00 p.m. on Saturday.

In the men`s finals, Indonesia will compete with Myanmar, Chinese Taipei, China, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Asian Games 2018 rowing competition manager Hari Sidharta told a press briefing held ahead of the rowing finals, that 11 out of 45 countries participating in the Asian Games 2018 took part in the traditional boat race.

They are Indonesia, China, Korea, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, and Thailand.

The competition will last for three days, starting Saturday (Aug 25).

The traditional boat race will see competitors win five gold medals.
