Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Acting Deputy for Coordination of Social Insecurity and Disaster Impacts of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) , Sonny Harry Harmadi, said that the follow-up to the handling of the Lombok earthquake was focused on disaster recovery.

In a press statement received in Jakarta on Saturday, it was ensured that compensation for 563 dead victims had been distributed properly.

The Ministry of Social Affairs confirmed that compensation had been given to 556 victims who died in Lombok, and the compensation for the remaining seven victims in Sumbawa would be immediately given in the near future.

Harmadi noted that the problem regarding the limited ability of the public kitchen to serve food and beverage needs of refugees had been overcome through the distribution of cooking utensils and foodstuffs for independent kitchens at thousands of refugee points.

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), together with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, will continue to improve infrastructure, clean water facilities, and sanitation as the top priority of the needs of the refugees by making boreholes and groundwater pumps.

He also called on the Ministry of Health to handle thousands of people who were seriously and slightly injured.

Based on the data from the Ministry of Health, there are thousands of pregnant women, the elderly, disabled, and children under five as vulnerable population groups that have been recorded. It must be ensured that they are protected and their needs are met.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has also registered refugees for the purposes of distributing logistical assistance, refugee tents, and family tents, and providing public toilets and MCK.

The Ministry of Women`s Empowerment and Child Protection has also ensured that it would distribute refugee data according to gender and age group. The data is used as a basis for accelerating the fulfillment of specific needs for women, infants, children, pregnant and lactating mothers, and the elderly, including psychosocial services.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also submitted a geological map of Lombok, which will be used as a basis for disaster mitigation in the implementation of rehabilitation or reconstruction, supported by spatial information from the Ministry of ATR / BPN.

The Ministry of PUPR will be the implementation coordinator in the field, in order to accelerate the construction of houses and basic infrastructure. BNPB has proposed that the construction of heavily damaged houses would combine the concept of Risha houses (simple houses) and conventional houses with earthquake-resistant structures as a form of disaster mitigation.

During this disaster transition period, each ministry-agency will be committed to continue to develop temporary infrastructure, such as schools, health centers, hospitals, markets, and places of worship, so that basic services remain fulfilled.

In order to support the implementation of the Presidential Instruction, the Coordinating Ministry of PMK, as the coordinating ministry, has asked the BNPB, together with the regional government and relevant ministries, to immediately complete the action plan for rehabilitation and reconstruction, which contained a list of handling needs.

The government has mobilized various national resources jointly to ensure that the acceleration of rehabilitation and reconstruction could be carried out properly.
