Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - The South Korean team was challenged by Chinese Taipei in the final round after defeating each of their opponents in the semifinals held at Panahan Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Square in Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday.

South Korea successfully stepped into the top list, after it won 6-2 against Japan in the semifinals. Three South Korean archers, namely Hyejin Chang, Chaeyoung Kang, and Eungyeong Lee excelled in three sets by winning six points, at 2, 3, and 4, respectively.

Meanwhile, Japan, which actually has the lead in the first set, has not been able to do much, and the three archers, namely Ayano Kato, Kaori Kawanaka, and Tomomi Sugimoto must be satisfied with bronze.

In this round, Japan will face China in the semifinals, which had been defeated by Chinese Taipei with a score of 3-5.

Chinese Taipei, reinforced by Chien-Ying Lei, Chia-Mao Peng, and Yating Tan, succeeded in proving its strength in the presence of Chinese archers Hui Chao, Yuejun Zhai, and Xinyan Zhang.

Of the four sets contested, Chinese Taipei excelled in the first set and the final set, while China won in the second set and ended the series in the third set.

With these results, South Korea faces Chinese Taipei for gold medal on Monday (Aug 27), while the Japan to China will vie for the bronze medal on the same day. ***4 ***
