"For the industry sector, they hope for an incentive designed by the government to encourage its role in the country`s economy," Erani Yustika, a special staff of the president, noted after the meeting at the Presidential Palace.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Economic and Industry Committee (KEIN) has proposed an incentive for the industry sector at a meeting with President Joko Widodo here on Tuesday.

"For the industry sector, they hope for an incentive designed by the government to encourage its role in the country`s economy," Erani Yustika, a special staff of the president, noted after the meeting at the Presidential Palace.

The committee remarked that it had learnt of some government policies, including those related to infrastructure development, fiscal, responsive monetary policy, and development of economic competitiveness.

According to Yustika, KEIN has conveyed some recommendations for the government to achieve a surplus in trade balance.

In the industry sector, the committee has proposed a special incentive.

"There is no further elaboration on the incentive, but the government will review this to see how we develop our industry sector," he stated.

KEIN has also supported the government`s policy on imports.

"Under such circumstances, boosting exports and managing imports is the most reasonable thing (to do)," he stated.

Yustika noted that at the meeting, the president had reiterated the government`s commitment to managing the current account deficit and the rupiah depreciation as well as to boost domestic production to substitute imports.

"Moreover, we also have the OSS (Online single submission). We want to monitor it. Those were the issues highlighted by the president," he added.
