Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vietnamese pencak silat athlete Dinh Nam Tran won gold in the men`s 70-75 kg final after beating Malaysia`s Mohd Fauzi Khalid, 5-0, in the Pencak Silat Hall, Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park, eastern Jakarta, Wednesday.

Khalid, who had defeated Amri Rusdana of Indonesia in the semi final, won silver, while Rusdana got bronze medal.

Tran dominated the match and managed to get the highest three points for several times during the game.

Among those present during today`s pencak silat matches were Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla, Chairwoman of PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Chairman of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association Prabowo Subianto, and Chairman of the Indonesian Contingent in the Asian Games 2018 Syafruddin.

In the previous match for the men`s individual art on the same day, Indonesian Sugianto won a gold medal, which is the ninth gold for Indonesia in pencak silat during the Asian Games 2018.

Sugianto defeated Thai athlete Ilyas Sadara, who won silver. Filipino athlete Almohaidis Abad secured a bronze medal.

Pencak silat, Indonesia`s traditional martial arts, is making its debut in the 18th Asian Games, being co-hosted by Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra, from August 18 to September 2, 2018.
