Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - China posted a 2-1 win over South Korea to win a bronze medal in the women`s hockey game at the Asian Games 2018 at the Bung Karno Stadium compound here on Friday.

The two countries` hockey teams waged a fierce competition in the first quarter. They attacked each other to score goals.

To break South Korea`s defense, China made several through passes through its defender Li Jiaqi. Led by its midfielder Gu Bingfeng, China later intensified its attack.

South Korea had a good chance through Park Seunga, but his ball missed the target.

China scored the opening goal in the 19th minute through Gu Bingfeng.

With a 0-1-goal difference, South Korea launched an attack and relied on its two defenders to hold China`s counterattack.

South Korea had another good chance when Kim Okju took a through pass but he failed to net the ball.

China scored the second gold in the 57th minute through Song Xiaoming. South Korea retaliated with one goal before the match ended.

Chinese hockey coach Muelders JL said Qiuxia Cui and her teammates deserved a win in the match.

"We deserved a win because we dominated the match. We were also able to hold South Korea`s counterattack to take the lead," she added.
