Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr Sujatmiko has called on businessmen to establish networks with Brunei`s importers and distributors, to benefit from the relatively high people`s purchasing power in the neighboring country.

"Brunei`s market might only be 400 thousand people, small market for Indonesian businessmen. But don`t forget that their purchasing power is higher than Indonesia," Sujatmiko said in a statement here on Friday.

The ambassador on Thursday has opened an exhibition of Magnificent Indonesia 2018 held in the Times Square Shopping Center in Bandar Seri begawan.

The exhibition was part of activities to celebrate Indonesia`s independence day.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Brunei Darussalam Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsetejo bin Sokiaw.

The exhibition that would be held from Aug 30 through September 2 would specifically explore the potential of West Sumatra that onclude its songket and handicraft products, as well as tourism.

It would also exhibit garment products, food, automotive spare parts and education sector from other provinces.

"Through this trade exhibition, I hope that Indonesian businessmen would not only promote but also establish a network with importers and distributors," he added.

Brunei Darussalam which is also a member of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) has a gross national product (GNP) of US$30,000 per capita.
