Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Uzbekistan won five of 10 gold medals up for grabs in the Asian Games 2018 boxing finals at JIEXPO Kemayoran in Jakarta on Saturday.

Uzbekistan grabbed the five gold medals in the men`s fly weight (52 kilograms), through Latipov Jasurbek; the men`s weight (56 kilograms), through Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov; the men`s light welter weight (64 kilograms), through Ikboljon Kholdarov; the men`s welter weight (69 kilograms), through Usmon Baturov (Uzbekistan); and the men`s middle weight (75 kilograms), through Israil Madrimov.

The gold medals in the men`s light fly weight (49 kilograms) went to Amit of India, the men`s light weight (60 kilograms) to Tsenbaatar Erdenebat of Mongolia, the women`s fly weight (51 kilograms) to Yuan Chan of China, the women`s feather weight (57 kilograms) to Junhua Yin of China, and the women`s light weight (60 kilograms) to Yeonji Oh of South Korea.

Mirzakhalilov, who won the gold medals in the men`s weight (56 kilograms), stated that the five gold medals were the result of mature preparations and extra hard work.

Continuous training and fights are keys to the glory of Uzbekistan`s boxing, he added.

He noted that the Asian Games 2018 is the initial step to perform better at the Olympiad 2020 in Tokyo and world boxing championship.

"We will try to show the best. Thank God, I won a gold medal. We will not stop. We are ready to compete in a grand tournament. We will take our county to a larger tournament," he remarked.
