Bogor, W Java (ANTARA News) - The South Korea`s U-23 men`s soccer team successfully retained the Asian Games gold medal by defeating the Japanese U-23 team in the final match at Pakansari stadium in Cibinong, Bogor District on Saturday night.

South Korea won the the gold medal at the Asian Games men`s soccer tournament after beating Japan 2-1 in the final.

Having the victory, South Korean defended the men`s soccer gold medal which it won at the 17th Asian Games which took place in Incheon, South Korea four years ago.

The Korea`s first goal was created by Lee Seungwoo in the 93rd minute and then duplicated by Hwang Hee Chan in the 101st minute. Meanwhile, Japan only scored one goal through Ayase Ueda`s header on 115 minutes.

In the extra time round, Japan seemed to change strategy by replacing defender Daiki Sugioka with midfielder Keita Endo. The Japanese formation at the beginning of the first half seemed to only put three players in defense, whereas South Korea appeared without change with quick, piercing and dangerous attacks on the Japanese goal.
